Oct 5, 2018:  Pat Biesiot is in Ohio now and does not have access to her home computer. She will not be able to upload Senior Class photos as the "Then" photo until Oct 12, 2018.
But, please post a Classmate Bio anyway. We'll sorta remember what you looked like then!

Sep 17, 2018: Pat Biesiot edited all posted "Classmate Bios" to NOT permit private email messages to be sent to classmates through the reunion website. And she edited the Classmate Bios Profile settings to NOT permit private email messages for anyone posting a Bio in future.
This was done to prevent "phishing" email messages that could be sent by outside persons through our reunion website.

If you want to contact a classmate via email, please reach out to Pat (pbiesiot@gmail.com) or Ron June (RLJune@comcast.net) for help.

Sep 16, 2018Several classmates added information to "Classmate Bios" page this month. Scroll through to find them!

UPDATES to this page are in red font.
(Revised 3-13-2018; 5-15-2018)

Let us know what you've been up to for the past 50 years! Well, not every single thing...in detail...in order. But some highlights would be nice.

An online form will appear after you click the gray Add Your Profile button below (so you can submit your bio).  Only the boxes with * are required. All others are optional.

But, it might be nice if you mentioned your maiden name (if appropriate), your spouse/partner/significant other, and your current home town. Whatever. Up to you. We just want to hear something from you.

Your email address will NOT be published online; it's just so you and other registered classmates can send private email messsages to each through the website, but only if you select that option.

You can also Edit Your Profile as needed, if you want to correct or add something.

Click on the Where Are They Now? button to see a cumulative map of the cities where our classmates are living now. (You can opt out of this feature if you like, by not including your town in your profile.)
Then, click on a pin head on the map to see who lives there. You may have to "zoom out" to see entire US map (or world map), by using the - (minus) icon on the lower right of map.
(Disclaimer: the GPS map coordinates are seriously crude--some of the pin heads are pointing to cities quite far away from their actual geographic position!)

Click on a photo (below) to enlarge it.

Have a question?
Need some help?
Contact Patricia Biesiot if you have questions or want help uploading text and/or photos: pbiesiot@gmail.com or 601-466-8102.

If you don't have access to a scanner, let Pat know and we'll figure out a way for you to mail the photos for her to scan and upload for you.

Occupation: Architect/teacher
Comment: Graduation from BGHS led me to Miami University and a professional degree in Architecture.  I was first in the class of ’73.  (The class, consisting of me, graduated in December while everyone else graduated on time in June.)  My fourth year was spent in London at the Architecture Association which partially accounts for the delayed graduation.  That and . . . other things.

Having only a motorcycle and no money upon graduating I remained in Oxford until 1977 to earn my way home to California, the motherland.  Specifically, San Diego.  I attained my first license to practice in California and was the Director of Architecture in a mid-sized firm for a number of years.  I married my lovely bride Valerie in 1980 on board an 82 foot Barquentine in San Diego Bay which led inevitably to two children.  Both male.  (Your sympathy is accepted.)  One is currently in Seattle, the other in Japan.  Both are fantastic human beings despite their father.  Hilarious as well.

Switching household and parenting duties in 1988 meant the family moved back to Oxford, Ohio where Valerie had found, and still has her ideal job as the head of the Smith Library of Regional History.  I began teaching part time in the Department of ARChitecture+Interior Design at Miami in 1988 and eventually took a fulltime position which I still hold today.  I typically teach a design based technology class and coordinate and teach the second year design studio.  I have been fortunate to conduct a number of summer studios in Italy, London and Africa. London and Africa have become my primary efforts; London being a studio project and Africa, Design/Build.  This past summer was the 6-week Africa program in Ghana where the students designed and then built a maternity ward for a small village near the coast.  This summer’s trip was the 8thtime I’ve conducted the workshop.

I enjoy fast motorcycling on challenging roads as well as being alive in and maintaining the old home we occupy.

I currently have no plans to retire because the students keep me young, although the academic world is becoming more and more constraining.

I recently had the good fortune to play Ryan Reynolds in this summer’s hit, “Deadpool 2”.

In honor of the esteemed class of ’68 I turned 68 on October 5th

It was wonderful seeing everyone on the 6th.  Couldn’t have been better.  Thanks to all who made it what it was but especially Ron and Pat and Judy.

Comment: After high school I attended BGSU for one year, then switched majors into engineering at Owens.

While going to school I started working on the Penn Central RR and continued there to Conrail

and finishing my career on the Norfolk Southern as Superintendent of Operations. All of these

years did entail some traveling and many other positions along with lots of hours and stress but

it did allow me to retire at age 50 in 2001. Yippee!

During these 50 years Marvene and I have been married 49 years, raised 3 great kids, have 6 grandchildren and 1 great grand child. Another benefit of retirering early is it allowed me to get

involved in doing missionary work in South America (Santiago, Chile) in a girls orphanage. We are also very active in our church in small groups as well as both serving on the boards of Emmaus and Chrysalis.

Comment: After graduating from BGHS I attended and graduated from BGSU in 1972 with a BS in Business & Computer Science.  While there, I played on the university golf team.

After graduating from BGSU, I married Kathy Aring (BGHS Class ‘71) and we moved to Boston so she could attend Harvard Law School.

After moving to Boston, I initially worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass as a field sales representative. Very quickly I became attracted to the software business.  I started a software distribution company, First Software, that grew to more than 500 employees in three years.

After First Software, I became CMO at Lotus Development (1-2-3 if you remember back that far).  I’ve also founded and/or held executive positions at Intronis, j2 Global, WebEx, Intranets.com, Mzinga, Shiva & PictureTel.

I’m currently CEO of a very cool robotics company in the Boston area named Locus Robotics. http://www.locusrobotics.com

Locus automates warehouses that ship ecommerce orders.  It’s an exciting & growing space.

I also sit on various boards including Influitive, and Hostway and am an advisor to many early-stage companies.

Kathy and I have two children, Brian & Ashley.  Brian teaches Chemistry at Phillips Academy in Andover.  Brian has two children.  Ashley is a nurse practitioner and was most recently working at Children’s Hospital in Boston, until she had a baby girl.

In the “now picture” from left to right are Emmy (Ashley's daughter), Ashley (daughter), Jeremy (Ashley’s husband), me, Juliett (Brian's daugfhter), Kathy (wife), Brian (son), Jack (Brian’s son), Cat (Brian’s wife)..

In all, we have three grandkids, with one on the way … Brian’s third.

I’m looking forward to our 50th reunion and catching up with everyone.

Comment: Better late than never. I tried to do this several months ago, but in attemping to import my updated photo I screwed up my husband's computer. I have 3 sons who are all computer specialists and I can't even download a photo!

I went off to BGSU to join the Honors program in September 1968. I double majored in psycholgy/sociology. I was elected to student government. I was chosen as a new student orientation leader, I joined antiwar protests both in BG and in D.C. It took me longer to get through school than most as I had the first 5 of  18 major surgeries while attending BGSU. But I was the luckiest woman in the world when in 1974 David Fidel walked into Senor Ruiz's Spanish class. He kept asking me out for coffee after class, but not on a date. I got the courage to ask him out and we've been together ever since.

I went to work as a psychiatric social worker at Tiffin Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center. I was responsible for innaugurating the first peer review system at the center. I also designed and carried out their 1st medical care evaluation studies. I stayed until the birth of the  2nd of our 3 sons. I moved to NY with David and kids while he pursued his career in industrial sales.

We moved back to Ohio in 1980, then moving to Medina in 1984. I volunteered at my kids school as art mom, room mom and typist, sewer and binder for the students publishing company. My grandmother moved in with us when she was in her mid 90's. I became the typical soccer mom, carting 3 boys all over to sports, music lessons, and activities.

After my grandmother's death I returned to college to pursue a new degree in education. I graduated Magna cum laude in 1993. My health didn't permit me to teach full time so I subbed in the Medina schools until 2013. I then retired to watch the youngest 3 of my 5 grandchildren while my one daughter-in-law returned to college to become a nurse. The youngest (now 3) keeps me humble letting me know how old, sagging, and wrinkled I am. The eldest ,just turning 18 recently completed all his work to become an Eagle Scout.

David left sales in 2001 to begin his own industrial specialty company. His success has let us travel, time permitting. Along with seeing US national parks with my middle son and family. my husband's relatives live in Slovenia and we have used the opportunity of visiting them to also travel in Italy, Germany, Austria, Croatia and France. This summer we visited 9 prehistoric cave art sights in southern France.

Life has been very good to me and as long as doctors can keep putting me back together I plan on enjoying it to the fullest.

Judy Fisher (Wright)

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Occupation: Semi retired teacher
Comment: After high school, I spent the next 4 years at BGSU and earned a degree in elementary education. I was lucky enough to teach for 37 years in a school system that I absolutely loved: Gibsonburg, Ohio. I taught every grade from 1st through 6th and enjoyed them all! I retired in 2009 after the birth of our first grandchild, so I could spend as much time as I want with grandkids. But I still am active in our district as a substitute teacher and have no plans on "retiring" anytime soon.

I married Tom, whom I met at BGSU, in 1973 and together we have two sons and two daughters, and three grandsons and four granddaughters (the youngest was born in April of this year). Our children are all pretty well scattered---both daughters live in the Phoenix area, our oldest son is in Lansing, and our youngest son is in Columbus. Needless to say, we do a lot of traveling to visit, babysit, help kids move, etc. (I fly at least 3X a year to Arizona for extended stays.)

Since my husband and I have both semi-retired, we have developed a few hobbies that we enjoy. Tom golfs frequently and also continues working on our house which is always in need of updating. I have relearned knitting (not well, but I make a mean scarf and personalized mini baby blankies) and sewing (creating cloth books from scratch for my grandkids). We also like to travel the country together and see new sights.

The last 50 years have been good ones for us, and I am looking forward to seeing many old friends at the reunion and catching up with them!

Valerie Giedenghagen (Hockenberger)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired Social Worker
Comment: I retired last May from a 20 year career in Social Work.  I got a late start, not getting my MSW till 1997, and later my LSCSW.  I worked primarily w/kids, in Adoption, a Psych hospital and a middle school.  I married in 1970 and divorced in 1979, after 2 boys - Ryan and Derek.  Married again in 1986 to Marc, who is a Presbyterian minister.  I lived in BG when I was single and then we moved to Pontiac, MI for 10 years, and to Topeka, KS for 10 years (for Marc's jobs).  He is originally from KS.  We now live in Lawrence, KS, (where Basketball was invented!!)  Marc teaches Clinical Pastoral Education at a hospital in KC.  Derek is disabled and lives here in Lawrence.  Ryan lives about 40 miles away, w/his wife and our 3 granddaughters.  My Mom moved here about 7 years ago - she is 97yo and in an independent apartment.  We spend a lot of time w/our family, especially the girls!  Isadora is 13, Maya is 10 and Rosa is 4.  We love KU Basketball, even though neither of us went there - it is kind of mandatory when you live in Lawrence.  We like to travel too and hope to do more when Marc retires.  I took up Scuba diving about 5 years ago and love it.  I like to walk and lift weights for fun and to maintain my ability to continue diving.  Those are the high points of my life.  Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on this, especially Pat, Judy and Ron.  Having worked in a Middle School for 10 years, I know that Middle School Principals really get things done!  Hope to see you all in October, 2018!!

Comment: I attended BGSU and after my marriage to Kay Francisco and starting a career I finally graduated in 1977.  Kay and I have 3 sons who have grown up to be fine men and great fathers you couldn't ask for more...... until the grandchildren came along and now the boys are second fiddle to 7 extremely spoiled and wonderfully entertaining children.  I spent 43 years in the Automotive Aftermarket and retired in 2015 as the COO of a $500M business located in Nashville TN.  I am happy to say I don't miss it one bit and now enjoy playing more golf and boating of which I am not very good at but I haven't sunk the boat yet so things are looking up.  Kay and I still live in Findlay but we spend our winters on Marco Island and our summers on Grand Lake St Mary's.

Ron June

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired Principal
Comment: After graduating from BGHS I attended and graduated from Adrian College in 1972 with a BS in Education and Political Science.  While there, I pitched on the AC baseball team.  I also attended Eastern Michigan University where I received my masters degree in Educational Leadership in 1976.

I spent my entire career at the Middle School level as a math teacher, coach and principal.  I loved that age.  I worked in Adrian Public Schools for 18 years from 1972 to 1990 as a teacher, football and basketball coach, and math coordinator for the district.  From 1985 to 1990 I also taught Elementary Math Methods classes for Siena Heights University and Adrian College.  I also served on the Michigan Department of Education mathematics reform committee at this time.

In 1990, I went to Tecumseh Public Schools and was principal at the Middle School.  While there, my first assistant principal was Bill Croft. Bill was a High School teacher, football and track coach at BGHS when we were there.  He always liked to have people guess who his boss was whenever he returned to Bowling Green.  The reactions were rather interesting.

Saline Area Schools asked me to come to their district in 1997 while they were in a building project.  I helped design and configure a 5th/6th building that housed around 950 students.  I retired in 2005 and now spend my time at Clark Lake from May to December and then winter in Sarasota, FL from January through April.

My passion right now is pickleball, a great sport that is the fastest growing sport in the country.  Whenever I mention pickleball, people ask, "What is it?"  It is small tennis or large ping pong. It is played on a badmitten size court with a paddle and a plastic whiffle ball.  It is wonderful exercise and allows me to still have some place to be competitive.

You may remember that I dated Beth Noe through high school.  Beth settled in Adrian while I was still attending Adrian College.  She also was a teacher and principal in Adrian.  We married in June 1971 between my Junior and Senior year of college.  We have two children; Brian, an engineer for Rolls Royce in Indianapolis and Sarah, a math teacher in the same building in Adrian where I started my teaching career.  We also have two wonderful grandchildren.  My grandson is 15 and plays hockey and lacrosse and my granddaughter is 11 and is a swimmer.

I look forward to our 50th reunion and renewing friendships and catching up with everyone.  It has been fun and rewarding to reconnect with all of you.  I hope that each and every one of you can make it to BG the first weekend in October 2018.

Finally, the picture above is me watching a sunset at Clark Lake.  Almost every night I sit on the dock and watch the sun paint the landscape. As the colors sweep across the water, touching each ripple of water in it's own unique way, I contemplate how lucky I am as another day comes to a close.

Stephen Kilborn

Marital status: Married
Children: 1
Occupation: artist
Comment: Stephen Kilborn

Over the last forty one years Stephen Kilborn has had the good fortune to support himself solely through his art.  He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (specializing in painting and ceramics) from Bowling Green State University in 1972.  Following his graduation, Stephen moved to New Mexico where he worked in Santa Fe as a furniture maker from 1972 to 1975.  In 1975 he made the transition to pottery making and in 1978 Stephen moved north from Santa Fe to Pilar where he setup a pottery studio and started employing up to twelve assistants to produce pottery to be sold in over one hundred shops and galleries around the United States, Europe and Japan.  In 1994 Stephen opened a gallery in Taos where he shows both his pottery and paintings. The gallery is managed by Stephen’s wife LaVerne and is in the historic Phillips house in the center of Taos. The studio is still located in the Village of Pilar, 17 miles south of Taos and is also open to the public. Presently these locations and the internet are the only places that Stephen’s pottery is available.

At this time, Stephen spends most of his time painting. To that end, in 2004, Stephen setup a separate painting studio in Pilar where he works and teaches workshops.  He also travels throughout Mexico and Europe where he can get away and concentrate on his painting.  Whether working in wood, clay or paint, Stephen has learned from the different unique processes involved in working with each material.  He is at a point in his career where he is able to directly reach collectors through his Taos gallery and in doing so he has the freedom to pursue whatever direction he cares to.
