David L. Zellers, 63, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Saturday, J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Chapel, 523 South Main St., Grapevine. David was born Jan. 1, 1950, in Findlay, Ohio, to Stanley David and Dorothy Brown Zellers. He proudly served our country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War and Afghanistan as a dog handler. He was a member of VFW Post #5074, Roanoke. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Survivors: His wife, Jane; daughters, Cassandra, Verity and Katherine; sons, Graham and Neil: grandchildren, Tarryn, Terri, Emily Jane, Hunter; sister, Debra; brother, Scott; many other relatives and dear friends.

A great athlete and a fine man, in many ways, however, Dave’s life was defined by his experience in the Army. I believe his heart and soul were focused upon his service to country, his innate patriotism and his fierce loyalty to others who had served. David is remembered with great affection and respect.
